Ambiente Bikes Prospero Frame Set – Details
New Ambiente Bikes Prospero 24″ cruiser frame and matching Ambiente Bikes Southforks. Colour is marina blue. This frame set has never been built up although it does have some minor marks such as on the top of the forks and the top tube of the frame. Would be considered shop wear in the old school BMX language.
I had these custom made a number of years ago before twin top tube frames experienced a renewal of interest. These are the ones I have left over and time to make some room for other things.
Full chromoly tubing, dropouts and gussets, a machined integrated head tube and mid sized bottom bracket. Cable guides allow the use of single or dual cables for the seat stay mounted 990 brakes. Head tube is also drilled for mounting the brake tabs. These are included with the frame, as are new bearings for the mid-bottom bottom bracket. Sorry, don’t have any headset bearings left…
These were built by one of the best bike welders in Australia and everyone comments on the quality of his work. Also then powder coated by one of the best in the business in Australia. Most old school people would know of them both!
Prospero frame specifications are:
- all tubes 100% US made, heat treated, aircraft grade, seamless 4130 chromoly
- top tube length 546.1mm (21.5″)
- chainstay length 388.6mm – 401.3mm (15.3″ – 15.8″)
- bottom bracket height 298.5mm (11.75″)
- seat tube length 255mm (10″)
- head angle 73 degrees
- seat angle 70.5 degrees
- weight 2.85kg (6lb 4oz)
- dropouts 4.77mm (3/16th”) laser cut 4130 chomoly for 14mm axles (use step down washers for 3/8th axles)
- integrated head tube using a standard Campy type headset
- mid bottom bracket using a standard mid bottom bracket kit for 19mm or 22mm spindles
- 990 or u-brake mounts on the seat stay
Southfork fork specifications are:
- all tubes 100% US made, heat treated, aircraft grade, seamless 4130 chromoly
- weight 1.31kg or 2lb 14oz
- dropouts 5mm laser cut 4130 chomoly for 14mm axles
- 1 1/8th head tube compatible
I may have a set of forks with 990 mounts for a front brake, however, not sure. If interested just get in touch and I’ll check in my other boxes.
