Shimano DX Silver Series Hubs – Details
These Shimano DX hubs were mounted in a set of Araya 7X 24″ rims as shown on the wheels for sale page. The rims have since been sold so just the hubs are now available.
These Shimano Silver Series DX hubs have only been mounted in the rims and never mounted on a bike or ridden. Have a look at the photos and you will have difficulty finding even a mark around the holes. Speaking of holes, yes these are 36 hole BMX hubs.
The unique thing about these hubs is they were known as sealed mechanism hubs. They do not run the usual sealed bearings and instead rely on a method of sealing the hubs using a better design that the usual loose ball hubs.
If you are looking for a set of silver high flange hubs for an old school BMX build then you can’t go past these DX hubs. We all know high flange hubs look much better than the low flange ones. Unlike the low flange Shimano DX hubs that use a cassette freewheel setup, these use the regular srew on type freewheels. Much easier to maintain and less hassle.
